Emmitsburg, MD. Our first stop is at this beautiful shrine dedicated to the first native-born American to be canonized.
St. Elizabeth was canonized on September 14, 1975 – 40 years ago this month. She is the patron saint of Catholic schools having established the first Catholic parish school in America.
We were privileged to have a tour followed by Mass and a blessing with the relic of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton. We brought all of the intentions from back home to the altar.
Now, we are off to Washington DC and our hotel. We’ll have a pizza party and a chance to rest up for a busy day tomorrow.
